Hiya All, Just wanted to thank you and your staff for a great stay. As I was on a “mercy dash” with my best mate in hospital in Melb, I had to find a place fast, and after looking at your site just the day prior to my departure, (and having never stayed at a backpacker’s hotel, I was a little of the opinion “too good to be true”!) From the moment I arrived, your staff did nothing but be helpful, and very enthusiastic in their quest in making my stay as comfortable and pleasing as possible.
I met some wonderful people there, and as I also met others who were staying at other establishments, I was glad to be staying at the Hotel Discovery. I saw other places, and I know that your place was by far the best in every way.
I will definitely be referring you as a premier place to stay, and I look forward to many further stays there. Thanking you again, Kat Goddard Perth WA

From the day I arrived at Hotel Discovery and one of the reception girls made me go out and fetch her a coffee, I immediately got a feeling for the friendliness of this place. And I mean that in a positive sense by the way!
Discovery is such an addictive place where I always felt involved in the Melbourne lifestyle, not just as a backpacker but almost like a local.
There’s always something going in – be it a trip to Ramsay Street (my personal highlight, due to meeting Susan and Izzy!), a barbie at one of the great local beaches, a tour of Melbourne’s best bars or one of the many great nights I spent down in the Roo Bar.
And if I began to run low on funds, the hostel’s job agency always delivered.
I can honestly say that Hotel Discovery is the best place I have stayed and it was a real wrench having to go home. But I know I’ll be back just as soon as I can…

We have been calling Hotel Discovery our 2nd home for months. The Staff and facilities are awesome!! We have been made to feel so welcome, we wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The staff at the desk are usually really busy, yet take the time to give that extra bit of care and attention to make our stay all the more comfortable.

If your a backpacker who's looking to stay in a clean tidy & cheap hostel with lots of fun to be had each night, hotel bakpak is the place for you. The staff are friendly & very helpful. There is a job desk which will help you get that much needed job or if your just there for the travel the staff at the job desk are always present & willing to help everyone & cater for your every need. There is the roof top which is such a sun trap and for all the sun worshippers you can go up there & get lots of colour without having to travel too far.
Downstairs you can go to the Velvet Underground or the Roo Bar for many a drunken night. I made friends with all the staff there & had many a night when I had to crawl (which wasn't very far) to my bed. You can choose any event that is held on everynight of the week, Kareoke, Pool competition, Theme nights, quiz nights to name but a few. There is a wine tour during the summer nights where you get taken to wineries just outside the town, sample a couple of different types of wine & get drunk while doing it.
Always remember the 3 most important words of a backpacker: Free, Alcohol, & Goon.
Thanks for all the memories,
